EDUCATION THAT DIRECTLY AFFECTS YOUR COMPANY'S BOTTOM LINE
LIFT's regional role as the federal DoC/NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership, NYSTAR's Regional Technology Development Center, and NYS DoL's Manufacturing Sector Intermediary uniquely positions LIFT at the center of Long Island's Workforce Training. Our training offerings are wide-ranging, covering the continuum from world-class business process training to individual worker skills training.
LIFT can provide direct support to your company and its workers in the following three areas:
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT Creating Demand-Driven Workforce Training through Transformation
Over the last 5 years, LIFT has worked closely with local and state DoL Professionals in efforts to create the workforce needed by local industries. This collaboration has resulted in DoL’s recognition of LIFT as the regional “intermediary”, honest broker, ( NYS DoL's term is Manufacturing Sector Intermediary) transforming Workforce, Education and Industry. Just this year, LIFT was awarded two important workforce grants aimed at improving the way the region prepares its workforce from elementary education through incumbent worker training by creating an industry demand educational system.
NYS Dol Regional Economic Transformational Strategies (RETS) New York State DoL released an RFP called 13N based on the federal WIRED model. The CONNECT L.I. Team comprising the region’s Workforce Investment Boards, local DoL offices, Empire State Development, professional associations, industry, unions, and other organizations totaling over 100 strong won both a Tier-1 and a multi-year Tier-2 Grant. LIFT is the grant recipient and fiscal agent for the project responsible for managing all aspects of the project.
Federal DoL Regional Innovation Grant (RIG) LIFT is under contract with the local Workforce Investment Boards to manage a regional Innovation Working Group comprised of workforce professionals and industry leaders. Within the project, worker skills, employer demands and workforce preparation assets will be aligned through an “Innovation Plan.” The planning process will identify the assets and processes needed to equip dislocated workers with the information and skills needed to navigate emerging career pathways in transformative industry sectors.
