WASTE REDUCTION, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY

LIFT can help your business implement:

Waste Reduction

  • Assessments for Reduction of Raw Material Consumption and Waste Disposal
A process modification may lead to reducing raw material waste, increase the possibility of recycling of the material and thereby reducing final waste disposal.

  • Hazardous Waste Assessment
Every company using chemicals must be aware of hazardous waste material storage and disposal requirements. Non-compliance with regulations can lead to fines and work disruption. LIFT performs an evaluation of your current practices and even provides recommendations for hazardous waste reduction or alternative use opportunities.

  • Opportunities for Decreased Risk and Liability
There may be an alternative to using dangerous chemicals in your manufacturing processes. Have you performed a review to see if there is a lower risk alternative that will get acceptable results? LIFT can help you to evaluate alternatives and possibly lessen you liability for worker lost time, fines and avoidable exposure.

Environmental Health and Safety

  • OSHA Assessments
LIFT can perform an assessment of your facility and employee working conditions for compliance with OSHA standards. The assessment takes the form of a prioritized checklist that can be followed to resolve identified issues.

  • Development of Safety Programs
A compliant set of required safety plans and procedures can be prepared. Input from the company will be sought where needed and reviewed to ensure completeness. The company will be provided an electronic copy of all documentation so that document maintenance can be administered by company personnel.

  • Safety Training Programs
LIFT can provide required employee training on all OSHA standards. The training takes the form of classroom instruction with training materials and, in those where practical instruction is required, job specific or equipment instruction is provided.

  • Employee Exposure Monitoring
LIFT can support your needs to perform employee exposure measurements for chemicals, noise, and other issues.

Pollution Prevention

  • Pollution Prevention
Businesses that practice pollution prevention benefit the environment by producing less waste and reducing the transfer of waste from one environmental medium to another. In addition, business competitiveness can be improved through greater efficiency, wiser water and energy use, increased product quality and enhanced public image. Often, the greatest incentive to practicing pollution prevention is the financial bottom line (i.e., decrease in water, energy and waste disposal cost and avoidance of potential violations and fines.

  • Best Manufacturing Practices
A Best Manufacturing Practices (BMP) are processes, techniques, or innovative uses of resources that have a proven record of success in providing significant improvement in cost, schedule, quality, performance, safety, environment, or other measurable factors which impact the health of an organization. In those cases where documented applications (for processes, techniques, or innovative uses of resources) are not available, these will be developed using an approach that will analyze risk, establish measurable performance measurement criteria, and result in repeatable desired results.

  • Environmental Plan and Procedure Development
As part of an overall business plan, a progressive company must have a plan that identifies and establishes environmental risk mitigation practices. The plan could take the form of spill prevention procedures, acceptance procedures for chemicals, emergency egress procedures and assignment of responsibilities or assessment processes for new chemicals. A formal response to this area could take the form of an Environmental Management System.

  • Grant funding is available to facilitate pollution prevention efforts from New York State. LIFT can help your company become part of:
